KANTINE Biergarten Wine Bar Eatery: Authentic German Cuisine in Cincinnati

Always have a great and truly authentic German meal here! The owner Peter is a master of German cuisine, and to really feel like you’ve escaped to Bavaria, they host the German club on Monday nights! It’s a limited menu on Monday but still great!

This is a little gem I recently discovered. It's tucked away off of spring Grove avenue near the Western hills viaduct. It's an authentic German pub restaurant. It's located in the first floor of a five-story century old red brick building next to United direct solutions. They have some of the most authentic German dishes I have seen in Cincinnati. They have a nice bar with great beer selection and terrific German desserts. The owner Peter is German and takes orders himself at the bar. He seems to be trying very hard to make his new pub a success. He says he's been open for approximately 2 years and is now trying to get a license to show big screen soccer events. Most of the cooking is done outside in their food truck. Although they also have an indoor oven and did some of the cooking in there. It's a very fun pub style restaurant/ bar. Lots of natural wood, industrial i-beams, natural exposed brick. It's a fun little place to get together with friends for a beer or take the family for lunch or dinner. Very authentically German.

We had an absolutely incredible experience having a late lunch at Kantine. Beers and ciders were great. Food was delicious - probably the best German food I’ve ever had outside of Germany!! We had 6 adults and 2 kids, and we ordered an assortment of apps, entrees and sides to share. It was all so good and the vibe inside and on the patio was just lovely. What a hidden gem!!

If you like German food, this is a must try! We have been here several times with fairly large groups which they can accommodate for either indoor or outdoor seating. You may wait a little for your food as they prepare it fresh but it’s so worth the wait! They have pizza on Wednesday which I haven’t tried but looks amazing. Thursday is half priced bottles of wine. We had a great time on Mother’s Day! Wish I had taken more food photos… it was all amazing!

Great way to spend a birthday: German Schnitzel, meat and cheese tray, and STIEGL bier vom fass! Yes, you read that right, Stiegl beer on tap! Delicious German Cuisine!

Finally made it to Kantine. We live super close so it’s really shameful that it took us so long. Really can not give this place higher praise. I’ve not had a more traditional schnitzel in the US. The cheesy spaetzle was phenomenal The staff absolutely welcoming and friendly. Can’t wait to make the next trip so we can work our way through the menu!

Great find - unassuming location and incredibly friendly service- and the food was great. Jägerschnitzel is not breaded, but nice and thin and tender with a fantastic mushroom sauce and Knöpfle or Spätzle. Currywurst was excellent with homemade tomato/ketchup sauce and Curry powder. Fantastic beer selection.

Warehouse converted into a cozy restaurant. Food was authentic and tasted great. You order at the front and then they bring it out to you.
